The Nations
We are involved in ministry in Hungary and Sri Lanka
Hungary
Since 1992 we have been working in with some key contacts in Hungary, in two main locations.
Veszto: Is situated on the vast flat plains of Eastern Hungary close to the Romanian border. Andor and Maya Toth with several others started the Eljada Trust, set up in 1991 to bring children out of the large institutional orphanages and adopt and foster them in loving Christian homes. In 1995 they moved into Magor, an old dilapidated manor house which they have slowly been renovating with help over the years. Their family has grown with a number of adopted and fostered children, and there are always many visitors coming and going at Magor. Part of the Eljada vision was for a bible school and also a school for children who have learning difficulties. Both ofthese visions have come to fruition.
The River Bible School, led by Dave, started in September 2004, with the first week of three over a year with the second year starting in September 2005. The number who came was very encouraging and the teaching was well received. A number of Romanian Gypsies travelled over the border, at times with great difficulty, to attend the Bible school. It has also been run in a larger church in Velence, closer to Budapest in Western Hungary.
Teams have also gone out to help practically in the renovation of Magor.
Sri Lanka
Penny Sills, our administrator, spent 7 years in Sri Lanka volunteering with Community Concern Society, a Christian NGO working with the poor in Sri Lanka. Penny spent several years based at the Dehiwala Outreach Centre, just south of Colombo, and was also working for several years at Lotus Buds Children's home, which is also part of the CCS family.
We maintain a link through sponsorship of children in Sri Lanka through Lakdaruwo, another CCS project. Lakdaruwo means "1000 children" in Sinhala, one of the major languages in Sri Lanka. Penny handles the UK end of the sponsorship administration. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, for just £10 a month, please contact Penny . You will make a vital diffference to a child's life - assisting children to stay in school when otherwise they might drop out, to gain important vocational training, medical care if needed and other assistance as felt necessary by the field officer who monitors your child's progress. You will receive an initial introductory letter and photo from your child, an annual letter and photo each summer, and a Christmas card. You have the opportunity to correspond more regualalry with your child if you would like to. Many people sponsor their children from birth right through to the point at which they are in employment and able to support themselves and contribute to their families.
